Professional Affiliations
Mutual Assurance Administrators (MAA) believes that two minds are better
than one. Keeping with that philosophy, we have developed relationships
with some of the most progressive and admired third-party administrators
(TPAs) in the country. These alliances continually raise the bar and allow
for candid discussions regarding operations, systems, and industry trends.
These long-standing relationships continue to impact our point of reference.
MAA is proud to maintain active membership in the following industry organizations:
SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL BENEFIT ADMINISTRATORS (SPBA)
SPBA is an organization made up of over 400 TPAs operating all over the
United States. Members of the MAA staff have spoken numerous times at
the SPBA’s national conferences.
QUBIC
QUBIC is a nationwide alliance of independent health care benefit administrators
united by common telecommunications, computer, and software systems. Formally
associated through a corporation named QUBIC, Inc., the members share
the philosophy of business excellence, committing their companies to provide
the highest-quality services to their clients. QUBIC strategically combines
large-company capability with small-company response to research, develop,
and implement market-driven programs that anticipate customer business
needs. The organization also provides backup for its members in the event
of disasters. MAA is a founding member of QUBIC.
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF EMPLOYEE BENEFIT ADMINISTRATORS (NAEBA)
NAEBA promotes networking of personnel, plan administration, and joint
purchasing of information materials. This organization has also contracted
with a national PPO organization to provide managed care opportunities
for multi-state companies. The negotiated agreement with NAEBA allows
members to take advantage of large group discounts since the NAEBA membership
covers in excess of 4,000,000 employee lives. MAA is a founding member
of NAEBA, and Richard Carllson, Chairman of the Board of MAA, has served
as an officer on its Board of Directors.
THE TECHNOLOGY GROUP (TTG)
TTG is a group formed to educate its members on the technology solutions
and operating procedures available in today’s benefit administration arena.
A small membership of less than 20 members allows the interaction and
sharing needed to fully utilize the vast knowledge of its members.
PHARMACY BENEFIT MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE (PBMI)
PBMI is an institute to educate and interact with peers within the Pharmacy
Benefit Industry. This group serves MAA in many capacities. MAA participates
for the sole reason of finding relief for our clients rising drug costs.
SELF-INSURANCE INSTITUTE OF AMERICA (SIIA)
SIIA is the only national association dedicated exclusively to protecting
and promoting the self-insurance risk-financing alternative for both group
health plans and workers' compensation programs. Major membership constituencies
include self-insured employers (healthcare and workers' compensation),
group self-insured workers' compensation funds (SIFs), third-party administrators
(TPAs), managing general underwriters (MGUs), excess/stop-loss insurance
carriers and a variety of other companies involved in the alternative
risk financing business. SIIA provides membership services in four primary
areas: information, education, networking and legislative/regulatory representation.
The scope of membership, topics and conferences has proved to be invaluable
for MAA.
INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION OF EMPLOYEE BENEFIT PLANS (IFEBP)
IFEBP is the nation’s largest educational association serving the employee
benefits and compensation industry. The International Foundation has served
as the premier source of education and information to the industry. And
because the International Foundation is a nonprofit, non-lobbying organization,
we have come to rely on it for objective, accurate and timely information.
